Ideal location for airport is flat ground, clear visibility, but this ideal location lacks in the world. However, engineers challenged with that situation and they have created safest structures of airport. Some airports are with surprising structures but they are considered as dangerous, because of their topographical placement, some airports are in Rocky Mountains, some are with short runways.

That is the reason pilots have to face too many challenges for safe landing.

It is situated in France with shorter run way about 1700 feet long and have hilly area around it. Pilots have to land on an inclined strip to slow down the air craft speed because run way is too short.

JUANCHO E. Yrausqin Airport

It is situated Saba Netherlands. It is also famous airport for its shortest run way with 1300 feet long. Run way is covered with high mountains on one side and run way ends dropping into the sea. Madeira international Airport

It is situated in Portugal. This International airport controls the national and international traffic of Madeira. It is situated near the Portugal coast. This airport is surrounded by high mountains and smaller run way. Safe landing is even create problems for experienced pilots. Later on, the runway was extended. It is about 70 meters high and built on a series of 180 columns.

Ice runway

It is situated in Rose Island in Antarctica. It is dangerous because it don’t have any runway just long stretches of ice. There is no human being so aircraft has very larger area for landing. It is situated in the city of Japan named as Osaka. The design of this airport is although very impressive but it is also most dangerous airport. It is situated in the Osaka Bay. Bay is a body of water partially enclosed by land with a wide mouth. But if the sea levels can damage the airport. Meteorological consultant warns that this airport might be disappeared in next 50 years, if the temperature rises with this speed.

Princess Juliana international Airport

It is situated in Saint Maarten in Caribbean Islands. It is famous for its short landing strips. Due to this the flying is very low, right above the beach. During landing, plane makes too much noise. There are no major accidents at the airport although there are too many challenges.

Lukla Airport

 

It is situated in Khumbu in Nepal. It is surrounded by high mountains and unpredictable climate. This short and sloping down runway of airport creates too many problems for pilots for landing. Sometimes flights are delayed due to climate. Some accidents have happened, recent one is in October 12,2010 air craft lost braking control and damaged its nose, but all passengers were safe without any injury.

 

Gustaf 3 Airport

It is situated in Saint Bart in Caribbean Islands. It has short run way which surrounded by mountains. The arrival of plane is extremely steep, but only experienced pilots can handle the air craft.

Toncontin International Airport

It is situated in Tegucigalpa in Honduras. It is military and civil airport. This airport is built on a plateau in the city. For successful landing, plane has to take a last second 45 degree turn pilots are considered as heroes for this tricky landing.

Aspen-Pitkin County Airport

It is situated in Colorado in United States. It is surrounded with Rocky Mountains which makes the landing too difficult. Pilots made high angle descents due to surrounding of the airport. This descents creates discomfort for the passengers and sometimes damages the nose of the air craft.

It is situated in Barra in Scotland. The unique feature of this airport is that plane land on a beach. There are three run ways. Flight timings vary with the tides. During high tides, run ways are under water. Airport has no license for night use.

Shimla Airport

It is situated in Shimla, city of India. It is situated 6988 feet above sea level. It is also considered the most dangerous airport in the world. The weather of Shimla is foggy more than half of the year. Pilots have too many challenges while landing. During heavy rains, air craft miss the run way, and due to such condition, only smaller air planes are allowed to land here.

Paro Airport

It is situated in Bhutan. it is situated in the valley on the banks of the river at about elevation of 7300ft.About 8 pilots have certificates to land on this airport. Airport can only be used at day time as it is difficult to handle at night time.
